A boy reads 2/3 of a book on the first day and 1/5 on the second day. on which day did he read major part of the book?

Now to find on which day did he read major part of the book. we need to check which number in 2/3 and 1/5 is bigger.

Since their denominators are not equal so first we need to make them equal.

Easiest way is to multiply each fraction by denominator of other as shown below:

 \frac{2}{3},\frac{1}{5}

 \Rightarrow \frac{2}{3}*\frac{5}{5},\frac{1}{5}*\frac{3}{3}  \Rightarrow \frac{10}{15},\frac{3}{15}

Now by looking at numerator we can easily tell which one is bigger.

we see that 10/15 is more which is obtained from 2/3.

Hence on the first day he read major part of the book.
