a boy running on a straight road runs 500 m towards north in 2 minutes 10 seconds and then turns back and runs 200 m in 1 minute . Calculate (a) his average speed and magnitude of average velocity during first 2 min 10 s and (b) his average speed and magnitude of average velocity during the whole journey

Answer:

a) 3.84 m/s

b)i)3.68m/s

ii)1.57m/s

Explanation:

(a)here magnitude of avg.velocity = avg.speed since motion is in a definite direction and does not change.

So,

Speed & Velocity avg = distance/time

= 500m / 130s =3.84 m/s ~

(b)here

avg.speed = s/t (distance/time)

=700m/190s = 3.68m/s~

avg.velocity = displacement/time

= 500m -200m /190s = 300/190 =

1.57m/s
