Distance/Time = Speed

180/30 = 6 m/s

6 m/s * 1 km/1000 m * 3600 s/1 hr = 21.6 km/hr

Answer:

1. 8 m/s

2. 28.8 km/hr

Explanation:

We know the distance: 80 m

And the time duration: 10 s

In the form m/s, it would be

80m/10s

Simplified to:

8/1 m/s

8/1 is just 8. So we've answered the first part of the question.

To convert from m/s to km/hr, we have to multiply by 18/5. Why? Because:

\frac{8m}{1s} * \frac{3600s}{1hr} * \frac{1km}{1000m} = \frac{8m}{1s} * \frac{18s}{3600m} = \frac{144km}{5hr} = 28.8 km/hr

The equation is self-explanatory, take a good 3 min to look through it. :)

The easier way is to multiply by 3.6. But only do this method once you understand the logic behind it.

Hence, the answer for number 2 is 28.8 km/hr.
