If average speed we have to take out follow this step
1.8 km/hr is 18km/60 min which is 3 km/10 min.

In 20 min a distance of 6 km is covered.

24 km/hr is 24 km/60 min which is 4 km/10 min.

In 40 min a distance of 16 km is covered.

Total distance covered is 6+16 =22 km.

Total time is 20+40 = 60 min = 1 hr.

Average speed is thus 22 km/1 hr = 22 km/ hr.
