A boy saw and wondered how the leaves of a gold leaf electroscope diverged during his science lab class he asked his teacher about it suppose you are the teacher write deatils about gold leaf electroscope to help the boy understand
Answers
the gold leaves diverge because they both have the same charge.
Explanation:
whenever a charged body is touched to the disc of the gold leaf electroscope the charge passes through the rod which is a conductor to the gold leaves . now both the gold leaves have the same charge as the charged body and as they have have the same charge the diverge. if a positively charged body is touch with the disc of the gold leaf electroscope then the electrons move from the gold leaves to the positively charged body through the rod which is a conductor and thus the the gold leaves lose electrons and become positively charged and when we touch a negatively charged body to the disc of the gold leaf electroscope electrons move from the charged body to the gold leaves through the rod and due to excess of electrons in the gold leaves the gold leaves becomenegatively charged. in both the cases the gold leaves have the same charge and diverge.
