a)Towards his left. This is because the car is moving forward and your lower part of the body is in contact with the car so you are also moving. The property by virtue of which a body is in a state of motion continues to be in motion with the same speed in the same direction in a straight line unless an external force is applied on it is called inertia of motion. The body at rest tends to remain at rest unless an external force is applied on it to change its state of rest is called inertia of rest. So you are moving with the car at a constant velocity and you are also in motion as your lower part of the body is in contact with the car and you also move with the same speed and when you hold a ball in the car, the ball that you are holding is also in motion with the same speed and when you throw the ball upward it does not come back to your hand because the velocity of the ball thrown upwards decrease due to the gravity of the earth and hence the ball comes back ti the left of you.
the moment ball is thrown, it was moving with the velocity of the car. According to the inertia of motion it will continue to move in the same direction with the same velocity. As the ball is moving up and the down it will maintain its forward motion
