Solution :

Given that , a boy started cycling at a point in a square field and reached the diagonally opposite point after 15 minutes riding at a speed of 4 km/hr.

•°• Distance travelled by the boy = Speed × time

Distance travelled by the boy = 4 × 1/4 km

•°• Distance travelled by the boy = 1 km

[ Note : Here, We have Found the length of Diagonal of Square ]

Now, According to the Question's Statement!

Area of Square = ( Diagonal )² ÷ 2

Area of Square = (1)² ÷ 2 km²

Area of Square = 1/2 km²

Area of Square = 0.5 km²

Therefore, Option C is the Correct Answer.

Distance travelled by boy = speed ×time

= 4 × 15/60 = 1 km

As diagonal of square = √2 × side

side = 1/√2

Now area of square = side × side

= 1/√2 × 1/√2

= 1/2

= 0.5 sq km
