A boy starts from a point, goes 10 m due east, turns towards 30° NE (North of East) and moves 20sqrt3 m, then turns to his right and moves 20m and stops. Find the resultant displacement and its magnitude.

From above fig it is clear that net dispacement is AB. And AOB is a rightangked triangle with right angle at O. So to find AB, we apply pythagoras theorem,

(AB)^2=(AO)^2+(OB)^2

(AB)^2=100+400

(AB)^2=500

AB=10×2.2369

AB=22.36

So the net displacement is 22.36m
