Given:-

  • Initial velocity ,u = 20m/s

  • Final Velocity ,v = 0m/s

  • Time taken ,t = 3.5 m/s²

  • Acceleration due to gravity ,a = 9.8m/s.

To Find:-

  • Original height ,h

Solution:-

We have to calculate the original height attained by the ball before come back to original position.

You can also calculate the height attained by ball using 2nd equation.

we use here 3rd euation of the motion.

• v² = u² +2ah

where,

v is the final velocity

u is the initial velocity

a is the acceleration due to gravity

h is the height attained by ball.

Substitute the value we get

→ 0² = 20² + 2× (-9.8) ×h

→ 0 = 400 +(-19.6) ×h

→ 0 = 400 -19.6×h

→ -400 = -19.6×h

→ h = -400/-19.6

→ h = 400/19.6

→ h = 20.40 m

Therefore, the original height is 20.40 metres.

Here, as per the provided question we are asked to find the original height when the the mostly informations are given –

GIVEN :

  • Initial velocity = 20m/s
  • Final velocity = 0m/s
  • Time period taken = 3.5m/s²
  • Acceleration = 9.8m/s

TO FIND :

  • Original height = ?

STEP-BY-STEP EXPLAINATION :

Now, we will use an appropriate formula to find the the original height –

Formula Used :

  • v² = u² + 2ah

So, here we will use the same formula and substitute the value as per the provided formula to find the original height –

[ substituting the values as per the formula ]

⟹ v² = u² + 2ah

⟹ 0² = 20² + 2 × (-9.8) × height

⟹ 0 = 20 × 20 + 2 × (-9.8) × height

⟹ 0 = 400 + (-19.6) × height

⟹ 0 = 400 - 19.6 × height

⟹ -400 = -19.6 × height

⟹ height = 400/19.6

⟹ height = 20.40 m

Hence, the original height = 20.40m
