Answer :
- Centripetal force of the stone is 40 N.
Explanation :
Given :
- Mass of the body, m = 50 g or 0.05 kg
- Length of the string, r = 50 cm or 0.5 m
- Uniform circular motion of the stone with velocity, v = 20 m/s
To find :
- Centripetal force of the stone, C = ?
Knowledge required :
Formula for centripetal force of a particle :
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀C = mv²/r⠀
Where,
- C = Centripetal force of the particle.
- m = Mass of the particle.
- v = Velocity of the particle.
- r = Radius of the particle.
Solution :
By using the formula for centripetal force acting on a particle and substituting the values in it, we get :
⠀⠀=> C = mv²/r
⠀⠀=> C = (0.05 × 20²)/0.5
⠀⠀=> C = (0.05 × 20 × 20)/0.5
⠀⠀=> C = (5/100 × 400)/5/10
⠀⠀=> C = (5 × 4)/5 × 10
⠀⠀=> C = 20/5 × 10
⠀⠀=> C = 4 × 10
⠀⠀=> C = 40
⠀⠀⠀⠀∴ C = 40 N
Therefore,
- Centripetal force of the body is 40 N.
