Answer:

While going to school, 6 km away the boy walks at 2.5 km/hr so he takes 6 km/2.5km/hr = 6hr/2.5 = 2.4 hrs. While returning from school he walks at 5 km/hr so he takes 6 km/5km/hr = 6hr/5 = 1.2 hrs. The average speed of his walking, total distance/total time = (6+6)km/(2.4+1.2)hr = 12/3.6 = 3.33 km/hr.
