The boy ca see 60 cm below his eye level.

Correct option is (A)

Explanation:

Correct statement:

A boy whose eyes are 150 cm above the ground looks at his reflection in a vertical mirror 250 cm away. The top and bottom of the mirror are 200 cm and 120 cm above the ground respectively. What length below his eyes can he see, of himself in the mirror? A.60 cm B. 75 cm C. 100 cm D.120 cm.

Solution:

  • The boy stands about the 30 cm above the bottom level of the mirror .The  angle made by him is X when he looks at the bottom , beyond this he can not see the mirror .
  • He will see his image 250 cm behind the mirror .
  • The triangles formed by the real rays and  virtual rays in front and behind the mirror all are congruent .
  • Thus he can see 30 cm below the mirror or 60 cm below his eye level

The boy ca see 60 cm below his eye level.
