A breakdown truck tows a car of mass 1000kg along a level road ,and accelerates at 0,5m\s^2 .
Calculate the tension in the towline.
B) if the town line breaks wen the car reaches a speed of 100m\s how far will the car travel before coming to rest if a braking force of 5000N is applied?

Answer:

Kinematic equation v^2 = u^2 + 2*a*s and Newton f = m*a needed here.

f = m*a = 1000*0.05 = 50 N

v^2 = 2*a*s so s = v^2 / (2*a) =

( 36 km/hr * 1000m/km * 1 hr/3600 sec)^2 / (2*0.05)= 1000m = 1 km.
