A brick is 30 cm long, 10 cm wide and 10cm thick.It weights 24 N and is lying on the ground.Find the pressure exerted by the brick on the ground.

Given,

  • Length = 30cm = 0.3m
  • Wide = 10cm=0.1m
  • Thick = 10cm=0.1m
  • Force = 24N

To Find:-

pressure exerted by the brick on the ground.

Formula used:-

Pressure = Force / Area

Calculations :-

Pressure = Force / Area

substituting the given values

Here,

we can get two answers:-

Brick is lying with area 30 cm × 10 cm in contact

so,

 \frac{24}{0.3 \times 0.1}

so pressure will 800pa

Brick is lying with area 10 cm × 10 cm in contact

so,

 \frac{24}{0.1 \times 0.1}

=2400pa
