A brick is 32 cm long , 10cm wide and 10 cm thick. It weighs 16N and is lying on the ground. Find the pressure exerted by the brick on the ground.

Converting the units from cm to m, we have the dimensions as-

Length = 0.32 m

Width = 0.1 m

Thickness = 0.1 m

Area in contact with ground = 0.32 x 0.1 = 0.032 m²

We know that, Pressure = Force/Area

= 16/0.032

= 500 N/m²

= 500 Pa.
