A bridge on a river makes an angle of 45 degree with its edge. If the length along the bridge from one edge to the other is 150 m, find the width of the river.

AB= width of the river

AC=length of the bridge across the river

The bridge makes an angle of 45 degree.

now, In triangle BAC

cos45°=AB/AC

1/√2=AB/150

AB=150/√2

AB=150√2/2

therefore,AB=75√2



therefore,the width of the river is = 75√2 m
