Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act , 2005 is an Indian Labour law that aims to guarantee the ' right to vote '.

It aims to highlight livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment to the people willing to work.

It also aims to provide durable assets such as roads, canals , Wells etc.

Also, through this Act government assures to give unemployment allowances to people if they fail to provide employment.

In 2006, it was finally accepted in the parliament and commenced implementation in 200 districts of India. It aims to enhance livelihood security in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
