A brother has three sisters. He went to their house for Rakshabandhan. The 1st sister added the same amount of money he was carrying in his pocket. The brother gave her Rs.2000. The same thing happened over second and third sister's house. In the end, he had Rs. 5000 left with him. How much money did he carry from home?

He took Rs. 2375 with him. Now he has 5000.Before giving Rs. 2000 for his third sister, he had 5000 +2000 = 7000 In this Rs 7000/2 = Rs 3500 has given by his 3rd sister. Before he give Rd. 2000 for his 2nd sister he had 3500 + 2000 = Rs 5500 with him but half of this ie. Rs. 5750/2 = Rs. 2750 given by his second sister. Before giving his 1st sister he had 2750 + 2000 = 4750. But half of it given by first sister. So 4750/2 = Rs 2375 was with him at first.

He carry money from home
= Y, first sister added same amount of money with him
= Y+Y-2000=2Y-2000, 2nd Sister same amount of money with him
= (2Y-2000)+(2Y-2000) => 4 Y – 4000
=> 4 Y-4000 -2000 =>4 Y - 6000, 3rd sister same amount of money with him = (4 Y -6000)+(4 Y-6000)-2000=8 Y -12000 -2000 => 8 Y- 14000.
In the end he have Rs.5000: 8Y-14000=5000
=>8Y=19000
=> Y=19000/8
=> Y=2375
