A bucket containing water is tied to one end of a rope 5 m long and it is rotated in a

vertical circle about the other end. Find the number of rotations per minute in order

that the water in the bucket may not spill. ( Ans: n=13.37 rpm)

Answer:

Centripetal acceleration = g

w^2 x r = g (w = angular acceleration)

w^2 = g/r = 9.8/5 = 1.96

w = 1.4 rad/s

w = 1.4 x 60/2π rpm = 13.37 rpm

Let r =5m

 Centripetal acceleration= g;

         So, g=w^2*r   (w=Angular acceleration)

                 w^2 = g/r

                 w^2 = 9.8/5

                  w^2  =1.96

W=1.4rad/s

W=1.4*60/2π rpm = 13.37rpm
