we know,work=potential energy=mgh
so,work=40*10*40=4000 joule

pranjal141: yes the answer actually is 24000J

work done = force * displacment*cos(theta) and also equal to the potential energy stored in pulling the bucket up
we have given mass 40(of bucket)+20(mass of rope)=60 and gravity=10
and heigth=40m
so potential energy=mgh
we get =24000j or 24 kjoule
