A bucket of height 16cm is made up of metal sheet in the form of frustum of a right circular cone with radii of its lower and upper ends as 8cm and 20cm respectively. Find the volume of milk which can be filled in the bucket. Also find the cost of making the bucket when the metal sheet costs Rs15 per 100cm2 .

Answer:

Volume = 10459.43 cm³

Cost of the metal sheet = Rs 264

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the volume:

\text {Volume = }\dfrac{\pi}{3} h (R^2+ r^2+ R \times r )

\text {Volume = }\dfrac{\pi}{3} (16) (20^2 + 8^2 + 20 \times 8 )

\text {Volume = } 10459.43\text{ cm}^2

Find the surface area:

\text {Surface Area =} \pi(R + r)\sqrt{(R - r)^2 + h^2}

\text {Surface Area =} \pi(20 + 8)\sqrt{(20 - 8)^2 + 16^2}

\text {Surface Area =} 1760 \text { cm}^2

Find the cost:

100 cm² = Rs 15

1 cm² = 15 ÷ 100 = Rs 0.15

1760 cm² = 0.15 x 1760 = Rs 264

Answer: (a) Volume = 10459.43 cm³ (b) cost of the metal sheet = Rs 264
