A bucket of height 8 cm is made up of cooper sheet is in the from of frustum of cone with redii of its lower and upper ends as 3 cm and 9 cm respectively.Calculate :

(i) the height of the cone of which the bucket is the bucket.

(ii) the volume of the water which can be filled in the bucket.

(iii) the area of the copper sheet required to make the bucket.

(i) let h be the hieght of the cone which is above the bucket

the cone has a radius of 3 cm

both the triangles will be similar (the bigger triangle and the smaller one)

so, 3/9 = h/h+8 = 1/3

= 3h = h+8

= 2h = 8

= h = 4 cm

Total height of cone of which bucket is made = 4 + 8 = 12 cm

(ii) volume of frustum = 22*8( 9 + 81 + 27)/21

= 176* 117 / 21 = 980.57 cm³ = 980.57 ml

(iii) l = 10    (using formula)

area = 22*10*12/7    +    22*9/7

= 2640/7 + 198/7

= 2838/7 = 405.42 cm²
