A bucket tied to a string is lowered at a constant acceleration of g/4. If the mass of the bucket is M of 3bucket is M and is lowered by a distance d the work done by the string will be (assume the string to be massless).plzz answer

If there were no rope acceleration would have been g . Now energy in that case simply be

= mgd

But now since acceleration is g/4 change in potential energy

 = m( \frac{g}{4} )d

Now what is difference in both cases . Of course the rope so change in energy of both cases is because of rope

 = mgd -  \frac{mgd}{4}  =  \frac{3mgd}{4}
