A building casts a shadow of 40 meters when the sun's rays strike at an angle of 38 degrees from the horizontal. With these data, which expression allows to calculate the height of the building?

Given

Shadow length = 40m

Using @ for angle notation.

So I have attached the image for more clear information

So if we take above image in consideration

We need to find out the perpendicular of the triangle.

And we are have the one side and angle already

So as we know

Perpendicular / base = tan@

So

Perpendicular = tan@ X Base

X = tan38 X 40 (this is the expression)

X=0.781 X 40 (tan38 = 0.781)

X=31.25m
