A building has 120 floors every floor is 4m high if aballoon rises 4m every second how long will it take to rise from the 42nd floor to the 55th floor

Given :

No of floors in the building = 120

Height of each floor = 4 m

Height rise by the balloon every second = 4 m

To Find :

The time it will take for the balloon to rise from the 42nd floor to the 55th floor= ?

Solution :

The total distance between 42nd floor and 5th floor is :

= $(55-42) \times 4$

= $13 \times 4$ m

= 52 m

Since for 4m rise balloon takes 1 sec .

So , for rising 52 m time taken by balloon is :

=$\frac{1}{4}\times 52$ sec

= 13 sec

Hence , the balloon takes 13 sec to rise from 42nd floor to 55th floor .
