A building has 50 floors.Every floor of the building is 6m high.If its elevator moves 3m per second then how long will it take to take to move from second floor to 42nd floor?
Answers
the distance the lift has to travel will be no of floors * height of each floor i.e. 40*6=240 m
Speed= Distance/ Time
3m/s=240m/t
t=240m/3m/s
t=80 s
Concept:
Formula used:
Speed = Distance/Time
Given:
Total number of floors in a building = 50 floors
Hight of each floor = 6m
Speed of elevator = 3m/sec
Find:
We have to find the total time taken by elevator from the second floor to 42nd floor.
Solution:
Total number of floors moves from 2nd floor to 42nd floor = 42 - 2
Total number of floors moves from 2nd floor to 42nd floor = 40 floors
Total distance travel by elevator = Total number of floors × height of each floor
Total distance travel by elevator = 40 × 6
Total distance travel by elevator = 240m
Now, using the speed formula
Speed = Distance/Time
Put the value of speed = 3m/sec and distance = 240m in above formula
3 = 240/Time
Time = 240/3
Time = 80 sec
Hence, the total time taken by elevator to move from the second floor to the 42nd floor is 80 seconds.
