Given :

  • Power of bulb, (P) = 60W
  • Voltage of bulb, (V) = 240V

To find,

  • Current flowing through the bulb and resistance of bulb

Solution :

Calculate the value of current passing through bulb

  • As we know that

★ P = VI ★

Where,

  • P = Power
  • V = Potential difference
  • I = Current

→ 60 = 240 × I

→ I = 60/240

→ I = 1/4 = 0.25A (S.I unit of current is Ampere)

•°• The value current flowing through bulb is 0.25A

Calculate the value of resistance of bulb

  • According to the statement of Ohm's law

This law states that the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across points of conductor provided the temperature and other condition remains the same.

→ V = IR

→ 240 = 0.25 × R

→ R = 240/0.25

→ R = 960 ohm

•°• The resistance of bulb is 960 ohm.

l =  \frac{p}{v}  \\ \\  l =  \frac{60}{240}  \\  \\ l = 0.25 \: ampere

r =  \frac{v}{l}  \\  \\ r =  \frac{240}{0.25}  \\  \\ r =  \frac{240}{25}  \times  \frac{100}{1} \\  \\  \frac{2400}{25}

R = 960 ohm Ω
