A bullet fired against a glass window pane makes a hole in it but the glass pane is not cracked .Give reason

When the bullet strikes the glass pane, the part of the glass pane which comes in contact with the bullet immediately shares the large velocity of bullet and makes a hole. The remaining part of the glass remains at rest as there is no time for the other parts to share the velocity and is therefore not cracked due to interia of rest.

Initially, the entire glass is in a state of rest.
When a bullet strikes the glass pane the part of the glass pane which comes in contact with the bullet immediately share the large velocity of the bullet and flies away making a hole.
The remaining part of the glass, due to inertia of rest remains at rest and is not cracked.
