a bullet fired from the gun makes a small hole in the window pane while passing through it,but the stone striking the window pane breaks it into pieces.why?

The bullet has a higher velocity and is streamlined. It has a less and uniform diameter. Whereas the diameter of a stone is big and irregular. It has a less velocity. So the pane breaks.
