Thus the bullet travels a distance of 20cm & will move a distance of 15 Cm further.

Further distance travelled= (n-1).x Where n is the fractional loss in KE and x is the distance travelled penetrating the tree.In the above question fractional loss in KE = 1/4 so, n=4 and it trevels distance 5 cm so x is 5 Hence the further distance travelled is 15 cm.
