Let x' be the penetrating distance .
And x be the distance it penetrated losing half of it's velocity.
Let u be the velocity ..then initial velocity at the of penetrating is u/n = u/2
We know that , x' = x/ n^2-1
Therefore, x' = 3/4-1
= 1 m..
Penetrating distance = 1m
