Given,
initial velocity (u) = 20m/s
Final velocity (v) = 0. ( As bullet come to rest after striking to wall )
Distance travelled (S) = 5cm = 0.05m
Now,
Using third equation of motion,
v² = u² + 2as
0 = 20² + 2× 0.05 *a
a = -400/0.1
a = -4000m/sec²
Note:- Negative sings shows that body has a retardation and its speed is decreasing.
