A bullet initially moving with a velocity 20 m/s strikes a target and comes to rest after penetrating a distance 10 cm in the target. Calculate the retardation
caused by the target.

Explanation:-

As velocity of bullet (initial and final)are given and displacement are given.

Therefore,

We have to apply third equation of kinematics.

 {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2}  = 2as

 {0}^{2}  -  {20}^{2}  = 2 \times a \times 0.1

As 10cm =0.1m.

 - 400 = 0.2a

a =  \frac{ - 400}{0.2}

a =  - 2000 \frac{m}{ {s}^{2} }

\boxed{\boxed{a =  - 2000 m/s^2}}

so,retardation produced is 2000m/s^2.
