A bullet is fired from a gun with a speed of
1000 m/s in order to hit a target 100 m away. At
what height above the target should the gun be
aimed? (The resistance of air is negligible and
g = 10 m/s²)
(a) 5 cm (b) 10 cm
(c) 15 cm (d) 20 cm

Given Horizontal Distance x=100m

velocity =1000m/s

we know that t=x/v

=100/1000

=0.1s

Vertical distance travelled by the bullentien0.1 is given by,

Y=u×t +1/2g×t²

=0×0.1+1/2×10×0.1²

=0.05m

=5cm

So, the gun should be aimed at 5cm.

Hope it helps you
