The kinetic energy is used in doing work against the retarding force due to material of the wall. Therefore ,kinetic energy (1/2)mv^2=mad, where,v=50m/s. d= penetration depth=10cm=0.1m. a is retardation to be found. Now,v^2=2ad gives a=v^2/(2d)=2500/(2x0.1)=12500m/s^2.
