The momentum of the bullet is 1.25 kgm/s according to the calculation as follows :-

DISCUSSION :-

Known

m = 25 grams = 0.025 kg

v = 50 m / s

To find => p =?

COMPLETION  :-

Momentum is the product of the mass of an object with its velocity. So, for momentum, it can be formulated as follows :-

\boxed{\text{p} = \text{m} \times \text{v}}

Based on the bullet problem above, the bullet mass is converted from grams to kilograms in accordance with SI. Then, substitute the value of the speed and mass of the bullet in the formula.

p = m • v

p = 0.025 kg • 50 m/s

p = 1.25 kgm/s

So, the momentum of the bullet is 1.25 kgm/s

Answer:

Mass of bullet = 100 g = 100/1000 = 0.1 kg

Mass of a gun = 20 kg

Velocity of bullet = 100 m/sec

Recoil velocity of the gun = ?

Solution:

Momentum of the system before firing = M x 0 + m x 0

                                                             = 0

Momentum of the system after firing    = MV + mv

                                                            = (20) (V) + (0.1) (100)

                                                            = 20V + 10

Since,

Initial Momentum = Final Momentum

So,

20 V + 10 = 0

20 V = - 10

V = - 10/20

V = - 0.5 m/sec

which is the required recoil velocity of the gun.

Hopefully it is helpful.

Thanks.
