and gets embedded , as per travel 5 cm calculate :
1) the resistive force exerted by the sand on the bullet
2) the time taken by the bullet to come to rest

  • speed of bullet = 10³ m/s
  • distance = 5cm

To find :

Time taken by the bullet to come to rest

Solution :

We know that,

v² = u²+2as

Therefore,

0 =  { ({10}^{3}) }^{2}  + 2 \times a \times (5 \times  {10}^{ - 2} )

a = -10⁷ m/s²

And, v = u + at

0 = 10³ - 10⁷× t

t \:  =  \:  {10}^{ - 4} s

therefore \: the \: time \: taken \: by \: the \\  \: bullet \: to \: come \: to \: rest \: is \:  {10}^{ - 4} s
