Answer:

The velocity of the recoil of the gun will be equal to 0.2m/s.

Explanation:

Given bullet has mass,  m_{1}=0.1kg

Initially Speed of the bullet,  u_{1}=0

Final speed of the bullet, v_{1}=0

Given the mass of the gun, m_{2}= 50kg

Initially Speed of the gun, u_{2}=0

We have to find final speed of the gun (v_{2}):

From the law of the conservation of the momentum:

⇒    Initial momentum = Final momentum

⇒         m_{1}u_{1}+m_{2}u_{2}=m_{1}v_{1}+m_{2}v_{2}\\ (0.1)(0)+(50)(0)=(0.1)(100)+(50)(-v_{2})

⇒                          0=10-50v_{2}\\ v_{2}=\frac{10}{50}

       ∴                   v_{2}=0.2ms^{-1}

Therefore after firing the bullet, the gun recoils with the velocity 0.2m/sec.
