u1=100m/s,M=900g=9×10−1kg

u2=0,h=?g=10m/s2

If v is velocity of combination (bullet in block ), then from conservation of linear momentum,

(m+M)v=mu1+Mu2

=10−2×102+9×10−1×0

(10−2+9×10−1)v=1,v=1m/s

From (m+M)gh=12(m+M)v2

h=v22g==1×12×10m=5cm
