Recoil velocity=- (mass of bullet/ mass of gun)× velocity of gun
=-( 0.01/5)×400
= - 0.8m /s

Answer:

Recoil velocity of the gun is 0.8 m/s.

Explanation:

Given;-

         Mass of bullet, m = 10 g

      Velocity of bullet, v = 400 m/s

         Mass of gun, M = 5 kg

Let the recoil velocity of the gun be 'Vg'.

We know by formula that;-

        Recoil Velocity, Vg = mv/M

So, putting the given values in the formula, we get;-

                Vg = 10 × 400/ 1000 × 5

                Vg = 4000/ 5000

                Vg = 0.8 m/s

Therefore, the recoil velocity of the gun is 0.8 m/s.

Hope it helps! ;-))
