  • mass of bullet = M₁ = 10 g = 0.01 kg
  • velocity of gun = V₁=200 m/s
  • mass of gun= M₂= 3 kg
  • velocity of gun = recoil velocity= V₂= ?
  • now as initial momentum = 0
  • so according to law of conservation of momentum final momentum will be equal to 0.
  • m₁v₁+m₂v₂=0
  • m₁v₁=  -m₂v₂
  • 0.01×200=  -3×v₂
  • v₂=  -2/3m/s
  • v₂= recoil velocity = -2/3 m/s = -0.67 m/s.
