Given ,
Mass of bullet = 0.019 kg
Velocity of bullet = 280 m/s
Mass of Gun = 6 kg
Let the recoil velocity of gun be V.
Applying the conservation of linear momentum
Pf = Pi
or, (Mass of Gun × V) + (Mass of bullet × Velocity of bullet) = 0
or, (6 × V) + (0.019 × 280) = 0
or, V = - 0.886 m/s (ans.)
