Let the recoil velocity of gun be V.

Mass of gun Mg =5.0 kg

Mass of bullet Mb =0.01 kg

Velocity of bullet Vb=250 m/s

Initial momentum of the system , Pi =0

Applying the conservation of linear momentum : Pf=Pi

 Mg× V+Mb× Vb=0

5×V+0.01×250=0

\large\red{\boxed{⟹ V=−0.5 ms^-1}}
