A bullet of mass 20 g strikes a block of 980g with a velocity v and gets embedded in it. The block is in contact with spring whose force conastant is 100N/m. After collision the spring is compressed by 10cm.Find a) velocity of the block after collision b) the magnitude of velocity v of the bullet

mass of bullet   m1 = 20 Gm
mass of block   m2 = 980 GM

Force experienced by block from Spring

F = kx
thus
F = 100 * 10
   = 100 N

thus velocity of block after collision

F = m * a
100 = m * v/t
100 = 1 * v/1
V = 100 m per sec
