Force offered by the wall is 50,000 N or 50 k N

Explanation:

  • Bullet is fired into a wall then after piercing into wall its velocity will become zero that it stops inside after moving through some distance into the wall
  • The force offered by the wall is the resisting force that it opposes the motion

Given, mass of the bullet = 4 kg

Initial velocity of the bullet = 50 ms⁻¹

distance covered inside the wall = 10 cm = 0.1 m

final velocity of the bullet = 0 ms⁻¹

Acceleration of the bullet can be calculated by using equation of motion

=> v² - u² = 2 as

=> 0 - (50)² = 2 a(0.1)

=> - 2500 = 0.2 a

=> a = - 12500 ms⁻²

Force can be calculated by using F = ma

=> F = 4 (-12500)

=> F = -50000 N

=> F = -50 k N

So the force offered by the wall is 50 k N
