m1v1 = m2v2
Solution:
According to law of conservation of momentum
m1v1 = m2v2
= 0.04 × 800 = 8 × v2
= v2 = 0.04 × 800/8
v2 = 0.04 × 100
v2 = 4
v2 = 4m/s
Therefore, the recoil velocity of the gun is 4m/s.
