A bullet of mass 40g is fired from a gun of mass 8kg with a velocity of 800m/s . calculate the recoil velocity of the gun. plz help me urgently​

m1 = 40g = 0.04 kg

m2 = 8 kg

v1 = 800 m/s

To find:

v2 = ?

Fomula :

m1v1 = m2v2

Solution:

According to law of conservation of momentum

m1v1 = m2v2

= 0.04 × 800 = 8 × v2

= v2 = 0.04 × 800/8

v2 = 0.04 × 100

v2 = 4

v2 = 4m/s

Therefore, the recoil velocity of the gun is 4m/s.
