mass of the bullet is 40 gm : convert to kg

1 g = 1/1000 kg

40 g = 40 / 1000 kg

let's keep it as 0.04( mb)

mass of the gun = 8 kg (mg)

velocity of the bullet = 800m/s (vb)

recoil velocity be v ¹

formula to find the recoil velocity is

v¹ = - mb * vb / mg

v¹ = - 0.04 * 800 /8

v¹ = - 32/8

v¹ = - 4 m/s
