Answer:

20m/s

Explanation:

mass of bullet=50g

velocity=400m/s

mass of gun=1kg=1000g

recoil velocity=?

according to conservation of momentum

400x50=1000×x

or, x=400×50/1000

=20

hence the answer is 20m/s

Answer:

Recoil velocity of the gun is 20 m/s.

Explanation:

Given;-

         Mass of bullet, m = 50 g

      Velocity of bullet, v = 400 m/s

         Mass of gun, M = 1 kg

Let the recoil velocity of the gun be 'Vg'.

We know by formula that;-

        Recoil Velocity, Vg = mv/M

So, putting the given values in the formula, we get;-

                Vg = 50 × 400/ 1000 × 1

                Vg = 20000/ 1000

                Vg = 20 m/s

Therefore, the recoil velocity of the gun is 20 m/s.

Hope it helps! ;-))
