a bullet of mass 50 g strikes a wooden plank weighing 1.5 kg with a velocity of 100 m/s, what is the velocity with which the wooden plank gets drifted?

Using Law of Conservation of Linear,

       Total Momentum before firing=Total Momentum after firing

            m1v1+M1V1=m2v2+M2V2

where m → mass of the bullet

           v → velocity of the bullet

           M → mass of the plank

           V → velocity of the plank drifted

           ∴ Frm the above equation,

               0.05×100+1.5×0=0.05×0+1.5×V2

                                     5=1.5V2

                                  ∴V2=5/1.5=3.33 m/s
