In the question we have to find the velocity of the bullet of mass m.

Let velocity of bullet be v and that of the gun be V.

Applying the law of change of momentum

Initial momentum of the system = 0

Final momentum of the system = mv +MV

->mv = MV

½(MV2) = ½(kd2)

From the above equation we have,

V = d * (K/M)1/2

Substituting the value of V in the above equation, we get,

v = d/m * (kM)1/2
